Debian on Lemote Yeeloong

The official Debian HOWTO on installing the distro on Yeeloong has been substantially updated:

I suggest that you refer to it first and foremost, and here I will leave only some additional tips, not the whole install process HOWTO.

• Installing the Linux-libre kernel in Debian

This repository provides some Loongson-optimized packages, most important of which are the working X.org and siliconmotion driver combination and fresh Linux kernels built specifically for Lemote machines.

So if you haven't already, add the following line into your /etc/apt/sources.list:

deb http://www.anheng.com.cn/loongson2f/wheezy/ ./

To ensure that the packages from that repository are preferred over Debian ones even if they're older versions, create a file named /etc/apt/preferences.d/anheng:¹⁾

/etc/apt/preferences.d/anheng

Package: *
Pin: release o=Debian
Pin-Priority: 1
 
Package: *
Pin: origin www.anheng.com.cn
Pin-Priority: 2000

Then execute:

apt-get update
